The Charles H. Dater Foudation Gives $10,000 To Boys & Girls Clubs Of Greater Cincinnati

Cincinnati, OH, January 2018– The Charles H. Dater Foundation recently gave a $10,000 grant to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati (BGCGC) in support of their Diplomas to Degrees (d2D) Program. 

According to BGCGC Vice President of Operations/Interim CEO, Bill Bresser, “The d2D program is part of a larger movement geared to encourage Club members toward academic success, high school graduation, goal-setting, and college readiness and is designed to guide and prepare youth for life after high school.”

With the money from this grant, Diplomas to Degrees will be able to provide a wealth of tools and resources for Club members ages 13-18 with the goal of guiding Club members toward high school graduation and preparing for post-secondary education and career success.  Club staff take youth on college tours, help them complete applications and resumes, and pair them with professional mentors from local companies that work with them on college and career readiness.

“This very generous grant will allow Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati to serve even more Club members through our d2D program giving them the opportunity to make informed choices about their futures after high school whether it is going to a four-year university, a two-year community college, trade school or a career in the military,” said Rasheda Malcolm, Vice President of Development. “We are very grateful to the Charles H. Dater Foundation for partnering with us on this crucial program for our at-risk teens.”

The Charles H. Dater Foundation was founded in 1985, and awards grants to non-profit organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area to carry out projects that benefit children and focus in the areas of arts/culture, education, healthcare, social services, and other community needs. The Foundation does not operate programs, but makes grants to private, non-profit organizations and public agencies for their programs and projects. Established to ensure that funding for worthwhile community programs would continue after his death, the Foundation preserves the memory and philanthropic commitment of Charles H. Dater (1912-1993) and his ancestors, whose hard work and business acumen over four generations provided them with the opportunity to share their success with their community.  The Foundation has been supporting BGCGC since 2003.
