Jaws dropped as teen members at the U.S. Bank Boys & Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati got the first look at their newly renovated Teen Center Wednesday afternoon. The U.S. Bank Club in Avondale was selected as the winner of the Aaron’s Furniture Teen Center Refresh. Dozens of associates from Aaron’s worked Monday & Tuesday giving the walls a fresh coat of paint, installing new electronics and appliances, and moving in new furniture. The project was valued at over $20,000.
The new Teen Center gives these teens members a space to call their own. They helped in the planning process by picking out paint colors and designing the layout, but were still in awe when they saw their ideas come to life. They were especially excited by the 12 new HP laptops and color printers, which will allow the teens to work on and print homework assignments. New gaming systems, TV’s, couches and a stereo system will allow teens to relax after getting their school work done.
This renovation marks the 20th nationwide by Aaron’s. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati is hoping the new Teen Center will help to increase membership and provide teens with a safe and healthy environment to thrive in the greater Cincinnati Community.
Cincinnati Councilman Wendell Young attended the unveiling and gave remarks to the teens. Young grew up in Avondale and worked at a Boys & Girls Club as his first job!
